Claim SOL from Deactivated Stake Accounts
Deactivated Solana stake accounts still hold your SOL. Unclaimed SOL detects them and helps you withdraw the locked balance.
What are deactivated stake accounts?
On Solana, staking involves delegating SOL to a validator through a stake account. When you decide to stop staking, you deactivate the stake. The SOL stops earning rewards, but it remains inside the stake account until you explicitly withdraw it.
Many users deactivate their stakes and forget to withdraw, or they receive small stake account airdrops that they never noticed. These accounts sit in the wallet holding recoverable SOL.
Why deactivated stakes get forgotten
- Wallet UI doesn't surface them — most wallet apps show your main SOL balance but don't highlight deactivated stakes
- Stake account airdrops — some projects airdrop small stake accounts as a growth strategy. Recipients often don't realize they have them
- Validator changes — when switching validators, the old stake gets deactivated but may not be withdrawn and re-delegated
- Multi-step process — deactivating is one step; withdrawing is another. Many users stop after deactivation
How Unclaimed SOL handles deactivated stakes
- Scans your wallet for stake accounts that are fully deactivated
- Verifies you are the authorized withdrawer
- Shows the total recoverable SOL before you sign
- Withdraws the SOL back to your wallet in one transaction
Active stakes are never touched. Only fully deactivated stake accounts where the cooldown period has passed are eligible for recovery.
Unlike token account closures (~0.002 SOL each), deactivated stakes can hold any amount. A single forgotten stake can be worth significantly more than dozens of empty token accounts.
